Strong and Durable
They're made of stainless steel so are hard-wearing
Train tracks, but more fun than they used to be.
Metal braces consist of brackets, which are small metal square-shaped attachments fixed to the front of your teeth.
A metal wire threads through the brackets to connect them and applies controlled pressure to your teeth, causing them to move.
The brace system will gradually nudge your teeth into the position decided during the planning stage.
We'll normally see you every 6-8 weeks for adjustments and to check that your teeth are moving as they should.
The latest advancement in brace technology is self-ligating braces. This means we no longer need elastics or ties to secure the wires, because the wire is able to pass through the brackets freely without friction.
As a result, treatment is more comfortable and requires less time.
Thanks to different coloured elastics and materials, they're now seen as a proper accessory for teens, and don't carry the same stigma they used to.

For certain types of tooth movement in more complex cases, your orthodontist might recommend fixed brace treatment instead of Invisalign.
A step-by-step guide to your fixed brace treatment
You will be greeted by the orthodontist, who will discuss your concerns based on an initial assessment by our team at the Modern Dentist.
This gives us a background and an opportunity to assess your motivation for treatment.
We undertake a thorough examination, taking some important measurements of your face and teeth.
The orthodontist will then discuss the most suitable appliance for your case and discuss the following steps should you proceed with treatment.
