Implant retained bridges are the ideal way to restore any area of the mouth where more than one tooth is missing.
What Are Implant Retained Bridges?
Missing and damaged teeth are more than inconveniences; they impact dental function and reduce confidence.
Implant-supported bridges are innovative solutions that combine the stability of dental implants with the aesthetic appeal of bridges.
Your dentist will place dental implants into the jawbone and attach dental bridges to these implants.
Dental bridges are fixed, which means only the dentist can remove them.
Aside from their stability, dental bridges provide the aesthetic appeal and feel of natural teeth, making them one of the most popular implant solutions.
Cost Of Implant Retained Bridges
The cost of dental implant bridges can vary as it depends on the number of implants we place and how many teeth we're replacing.
Generally, the fewer implants needed and the more teeth being replaced, the lower the overall cost per tooth.
The Modern Dentist offers financing for our implant treatments.
You can replace multiple missing teeth and restore full dental function without worrying about upfront costs.
Traditional bridges fill the gap of missing teeth by reducing the neighbouring teeth and placing a dental bridge over them. When you opt for an implant-supported bridge, your teeth won't need to be shaved down, preserving their strength and avoiding future complications.
Better Stability and Function
While bridges have benefits, they still impact food choices. Implant-retained bridges stay firmly in place and feel the same as normal biting and chewing. Enjoy eating your favourite foods without worrying about causing any damage.
Aesthetic Appeal
Bridges look and feel like real teeth. Over time, the dental implants integrate with the jawbone, creating a stable foundation. We then fit a bridge that looks like your natural teeth and gives you a winning smile.
Bone Health Benefits
Tooth loss can lead to long-term complications, including jawbone deterioration, changes in facial structure, and loss of oral function. Dental implants stimulate the jawbone, encouraging it to fuse around them, which preserves strength and structure.
Durability
As long as you attend dental check-ups and maintain oral health, your implants can last many years.
What Are The Stages Of Implant Retained Bridges?
We encourage prospective patients to book a free consultation with one of our dental professionals.
It allows you to learn about how we can help you. We'll also assess whether implants are the right solution for your dental goals.
Not everyone is a suitable candidate for dental implants, and we'll need to assess the bone and tissues where we're planning to place the implants, as well as other factors, such as your medical history.
We'll take X-rays and usually perform a CT scan to determine whether implants are suitable.
In some cases, your dentist might recommend a bone graft, either before the implant placement or at the same time, which ensures the implants have a strong foundation.
When it's time for your procedure, the dentist will numb your mouth - nervous patients and patients with more extensive treatments also have the option of intravenous sedation.
The dentist will place titanium screws into the bone, which serve as anchors for your bridge.
Before fitting the bridge, we need to ensure the jawbone and implants have fused together—this process is also known as osseointegration.
The process can take a few months, but we'll usually give you either a temporary bridge or a removable solution in the meantime.
Once the implants are fully integrated, a specialist lab will create your permanent bridge based on the colour and condition of your current teeth, which your dentist will fit.
When the fixed implant bridge or bridges are fitted, you'll receive tailored aftercare instructions.
Our dentists also offer check-ups and advice to ensure the implants last years.

Never seen such an amazing dentist before. It's so modern and friendly. And the equipment is just insane. Great location too, right next to Old Street tube.

Brilliant new practice with Mark and his team. Inspired fit out and decor.
Terence Macey
Mark has been my dentist for many years. His new practice is amazing. Highly recommend it.
Derek Elliott
Mark is an incredibly good dentist. Now with a great new team in a lovely space.

Brilliant new practice with a really cool vibe, which is not a phrase I thought I'd be using of a dentist! I followed Mark here from his previous practice - he's highly skilled both in his work and in putting you at ease. Also, I've never seen two people more excited about new dentistry tools as Mark and hygienist Nick. Strongly recommend!
Hannah Whittingham
I've been seeing Mark at his previous practice for years and I'd highly recommend him. Actually, that doesn't do him justice. Mark is an excellent dentist and has a holistic approach, which is a rarity. He sorted out a complicated root canal issue for good (where previous dentists had failed) and I completely trust his advice. Over the years I've had quite a bit of work done to the highest standard. Mark is relaxed, approachable, reassuring and most importantly, he only recommends intervention where absolutely necessary. He's the best!

Having avoided going to the dentist for (many) years, I can't believe I'm saying this but I really enjoyed my appointment with Nick and Mark! They were both so thoughtful, explaining everything clearly and taking extra time and care. The environment, music and positivity has completely reset my perception of the dentist. Highly recommend and looking forward to coming back.

Undoubtedly the best dentist in London. I recently had my teeth whitened, with an easy at home kit, followed by composite bonding to my front six teeth by Mark. The results are incredible and I couldn't be happier. In just 6 weeks since my initial consultation I can't believe how amazing my teeth look and I've had nothing but compliments on my smile since they were done. After years of being unhappy with my teeth, I only wish I'd have done this sooner.
Not only is the the whole experience is pain free, the chair is super comfy and the staff couldn't make you feel more welcome. The space itself is beautiful and calming, you actually want to just stick around spend more time there.
If you're unhappy with your smile then look no further, head to The Modern Dentist and a pay Mark a visit.

I’ve been a patient of Mark and Nick for 8 years. Individually, they are exceptional and consummate healthcare professionals; as a team, they are unique and complement each other’s skills and expertise perfectly. I’m so grateful I’ll be able to witness the growth of this new venture in the beautiful new premises in Old Street. They are, respectively, a brilliant dentist and a brilliant hygienist, and, with Sammi's warm greeting at reception, it’s like visiting dear friends.

I would highly recommend Mark and The Modern Dentist to anyone considering improving their smile. My teeth whitening treatment and composite bonding has left me feeling confident and proud to smile at every opportunity - something I was very conscious of doing beforehand! Really pleased with the final result and the friendly and informative support provided by Mark throughout.

I have been a patient of Mark's for several years and count myself very lucky to have found such a wonderful dentist - it was an absolute no-brainer to follow him to his new practice. Nick is a first rate hygienist too, what a brilliant team! Fantastic new premises too, wow.

Fantastic new premises as expected! Ive been seeing both Mark and Nick (dental hygienist) for many years and would most definately recommend them both.
My last visit was for composite fillings between the tooth and and the gum where I had over brushed and though no one would see it, they had become discoloured and not great looking. Also the front two teeth were ever so slightly levelled. Three hours in the chair with Mark working away, it was painless and I have to say I nodded twice, The end result feel fantastic, look fantastic and so glad I had them done.

I could not be happier with my experience at The Modern Dentist! From my initial consultation to the last appointment, Dr Mark Flynn and his team were superb. So friendly and warm, making every appointment a pleasure.
My treatments consisted of a teeth whitening course as well as much needed composite bonding to repair the bad work a previous dentist had performed. My smile has well and truly transformed. A fantastic natural finish that I’m so happy with.
I now smile more and feel so much more confident within myself and that’s all down to Mark and the team. I will be sending all of my friends there!
Thank you!

I have known Dr. Mark Flynn for many years now. He has been my dentist for most of these years. As a (recently retired) dentist myself, and a colleague with whom he has worked, I know first hand that treating a fellow dentist is always a challenge. I have overwhelming confidence in Mark. He is, as his practice name indicates, a modern dentist....very highly trained, a strident advocate of minimally invasive cutting edge dentistry, and a compassionate, engaging practitioner. I have recommended him to very many of my former patients.
Recently he has completed a course of dental implant work in my own mouth, which has gone perfectly, and in total comfort. His practice is stunning. Spacious, bright, unintimidating and bristling with up to date dental kit.
Now that he has Nick Hodgetts ( one of his dental hygienists with whom I have also worked), they make an unbeatable team.
I wish them and the Modern Dentist every success.
Many thanks.

I had my wisdom teeth removed last week and needed to get my stitches out. I was experiencing terrible pain and was worried about a dry socket. While on a business trip in London, I called several dentists, but many told me they weren’t taking new patients or offered appointments far in the future. Dr. Mark and his team at this praxis were amazing.
They took my emergency appointment over the phone, and I secured an appointment only an hour later. The price was very reasonable considering the situation. Dr. Mark made sure to sanitize and disinfect the area thoroughly. He also addressed my other concerns, especially regarding some recent dental work I had done, and put my mind at ease.
I’ve been on painkillers every day for the past month, but I can confidently say it has been over 24 hours since I last took any ibuprofen! Thank you so much, Dr. Mark and team!

Visiting from the US. Recently had poorly fillings done (stateside) and Modern Dentist figured it out, fixed my teeth, and tested them a bunch of different ways they don’t do in the US. Highly reccomend will be changing dentists when I get home that’s for sure.

Mark and the team were incredible. I was travelling to London and my molar inlay fell out. Mark's team fitted me in to the surgery the next day, proceeded with a temporary filling enabling me to continue on with my trip as planned. After visiting them, I actually decided to have the tooth repaired in full whilst in London and they organised an appointment for an onlay prep and sped up the lab for me in order to fit the new onlay before I left London. Thankyou to you all for making what could have been a traumatic and stressful experience very seamless, and for doing everything you could to make the procedure happen whilst on holidays. I appreciate you all!

I cannot recommend Dr. Mark and his team highly enough! From the moment I walked into the clinic, I was impressed by the modern and impeccably clean environment. It's clear that patient comfort and hygiene are top priorities here.
Dr. Mark's exceptional care and dedication truly set him apart. He genuinely cares about his patients and always takes the time to explain the best treatment options in a way that's easy to understand. This personalised approach made me feel confident and well-informed about my dental health.
The clinic's state-of-the-art facilities and Dr. Mark's expertise ensure a top-notch experience every visit. If you're looking for a dentist who combines skill, care, and a welcoming atmosphere, Dr. Mark is the best choice!

As long as you follow the dentist's aftercare instructions, your implants can last many years or even your entire life without any complications. The most important thing is that the bridge is well maintained at home (your dentist and hygienist will show you general care tips).
You should also attend regular check-ups and see the dental hygienist to maintain the bridge's aesthetic appeal.
It's simple, really: implant-retained dentures clip onto your implants, but you can remove them for cleaning while dental implant bridges are fixed onto the implants. The bridge functions like real teeth, and it's more convenient if you want a long-term solution.
If most or all of your teeth are missing, we might discuss implant-retained dentures as a less expensive alternative but in most cases, a dental bridge fixed to implants offers the most stability.
No part of the implant-retained bridge procedure actually hurts. We usually use local anaesthetic to ensure you don't feel any pain. As with all dental procedures, some post-procedure discomfort is normal and will subside after a few days.
Taking over-the-counter painkillers like paracetamol and ibuprofen and using cold compresses can reduce discomfort. The pain should typically resolve within 7 to 10 days.
There are multiple factors that contribute towards your recovery time, including the number of implants you have, where we place them, and whether we remove any teeth during the procedure. The majority of people make a full recovery within a week to 10 days.
The good news is that once the implant surgery is over and your jawbone fuses over them, you won't require any downtime when we fit the permanent bridge.
Absolutely! As long as the bridge is well-designed. Implant-supported bridges look and feel like healthy, natural teeth. Most people forget they even have a bridge.
We have some specific tricks and techniques for keeping your implant-retained bridge clean. Once the bridge is fitted, the dentist or hygienist will go over them with you to ensure you know how to maintain its aesthetic appeal.
